Donation Information

The internet offers exciting new possibilities in bringing new books to the public.
Andrew Adam Newman in the New York Times (March, 2007) wrote about the new “high-tech, grass-roots” approach to publishing. In the article (link below), he mainly spoke to publishing via podcasts. But whether an author chooses podcasts, or the printed word,  as I have, all of this points to expanded opportunities for authors and better access for readers.*

Portsmouth 1905 is more of an artistic venture than a financial one but designing and maintaining a website involves costs, so donations are appreciated.  Suggested donation (if you enjoyed the free chapters) is $1.39 per chapter. A PayPal link is provided which is both secure and convenient.

In the spirit of transparency:

With chapters of Portsmouth, 1901 in months to come, there may arrive a time when I will consider moving to a fee-based model for each chapter. If you think you’d want the entire book, you can let me know via contact information on this site.

Another opportunity presented by this media is the chance for authors and readers to interact with each other. I’m curious to see what effect maintaining an open channel between readers, between readers and the author, and between authors has for all of us. From time to time, I’ll probably ask visitors to respond to some questions about the story and characters of Portsmouth, 1905.

Check back every few weeks for additions or send me a note saying “I’m waiting!”

*I have my good friend, Tom Davis, to thank for this. He sent me this article and it directly led to the Portsmouth 1905 website.
